Are you interested in discovering new cultures, making life-long friends, and becoming a global student leader? Then the Pitt to You Ambassador program is for you! The Pitt to You program welcomes and provides intercultural experiences with incoming international first-year students. We are looking for 10-15 ambassadors to participate in leadership training and community building that will combine developing leadership skills and academic credit in a year-long program starting in Spring 2024. Academic and cultural training will be combined with the study away opportunity in August 2024. Students will receive a stipend for their participation in the program. Travel and accommodations during the study away experience will be covered by the program.

Pitt to You Ambassador Requirements and Expectations

The Pitt to You program is designed to develop intercultural leadership skills through a year-long program that will focus on cultural awareness, communications, conflict resolution, problem-solving, and best practices for building international teams. The program includes a cultural development program in Spring 2024, travel or virtual engagement in Summer 2024, and a one-credit global leadership seminar in Fall 2024. Two tracks will be offered—a hybrid track that includes in-person and virtual programming and an entirely virtual track.

    Ambassador Requirements:

    1. Full-time undergraduate sophomore or junior
    2. A minimum of 24 academic credits completed on a Pitt campus by Spring 2024
    3. A 2.75 cumulative GPA
    4. A clear disciplinary record

    Expectations:

    1. Cross-cultural development training program—all participants will be required to enroll in the Spring 2024 Intercultural Competency Course and attend summer training sessions that will prepare ambassadors for Summer 2024 programming activities.
    2. Before meeting incoming international students, ambassadors will be required to participate in a three-day preparatory seminar.
    3. Participate in the "Pitt to You Workshop" with incoming international students in June/July 2024.
    4. In Fall 2024, enroll in one-credit Global Leadership Course class and complete all class requirements satisfactorily.

    Progress toward Global Distinctions

The Global Distinction is a new Pitt credential that supports your growth in learning more about the world inside and outside the classroom. By completing course work across disciplines and participating in global activities and experiences at home or abroad, you can earn official recognition for your work. The Global Distinction is a great way to demonstrate your cross-cultural exposure and awareness to potential employers.

P2Y course qualifies as credits for global coursework. Attendance in Pitt to You activities and completion of the Pitt to You course in the fall can be used towards attaining the Global Distinction. Additionally, special prizes, networking invitations, and advance notice of or preferred consideration for travel grants or other funding opportunities for achieving competency milestones.
